Less than one week old...4 weeks ago now, wow. |
Levi hates bath time. As a result, I hate bath time. He doesn't mind sponge baths too much but the tub is his enemy. Today he screamed the whole time (which wasn't long, I hurried as much as I could!). Does anyone have any suggestions for helping Levi like baths? What helped your kids enjoy bath time?

Try putting a heater in the room where your bathing him. Andrew always screamed because he was cold.
Not sure, lol. Emery hated them at first too, but now she adores bath time! I think they just get used to it. I would actually try putting him in the sink, or just the regular tub, if you haven't already. I think sometimes that those baby tubs don't allow for ease of bathing or keeping baby in the water!
I always had a small towel on top of my babies so they weren't uncovered while washing them. The towel would get wet but held the heat better than being fully exposed.

I used to make sure to place a warm wash cloth on Alexis and to keep it warm. But she generally loved bath time. We also have one of those great tubes that fits on the kitchen sink so she was sitting up and could see while we did it she like that much much better than being flat on her back in a tub.
My daughter hated the baby bathtub so my sister-in-law borrowed me a bath mat for the regular bath tub. You get them at wal-mart and they're just a metal frame with a mesh cover that's angled so you can lay your baby in the bathtub but it keeps their heads out of the water. Now she loves her baths!

In addition to the comments already posted, one suggestion that I would have is to practice bath time as a relaxing routine instead of something torturous that needs to be rushed through. He might still hate it at first, but if mom and dad are relaxed Levi might eventually learn that bath time is relaxing and enjoyable too.
Well, I have no advice...a bath is one of the only things that get's Linnea to STOP crying...I always keep her covered with as many washcloths as possible (even on her head once it's wet), so maybe that helps?

Have warmer than warm water. Bath in the tub with him and let it be a bonding time for both of you.
